Chiropractic Care
Chiropractic doctors are extensively trained in physical and orthopedic examination and management. They rely on evaluation of diagnostic tests/imaging to provide a diagnosis for their patient's presenting condition(s). Chiropractors can provide rehabilitation, physical therapy, manual therapy and other conservative interventions including nutritional, supplemental and lifestyle recommendations. Chiropractors are clinical experts in spine related conditions as well as extremity injuries. Spinal joint manipulation (a controlled act under the Ontario RHPA) is under the regulated scope of the profession.
Chiropractic is Canada's third largest regulated primary health care profession after medicine and dentistry. Chiropractic is a branch of the health sciences which focuses primarily upon the body's musculoskeletal (MSK) system (spinal and joint conditions, bone health and degenerative disorders, muscular conditions, neuropathic and discogenic disorders, non-malignant pain, physical function, etc.)
There is extensive research outlining the efficacy, benefits, and cost-effective nature of spinal/joint manipulation for many MSK conditions. There are over 4 million Canadians (1.2 million Ontarians) who rely on chiropractors to address back and neck pain, improve mobility, manage work related injuries and to maintain functionality in their daily lives.
